Law Firms
Jacka-Liquori Agency
has been insuring law firms for over 50
years, single practitioners, to large firms with many specialties. In that time
we have learned that insuring law firms is far more complex than many would
believe. It is not just a matter of finding out what the firm’s current
coverage is and quoting against it.
As part of our process for
protecting law firms, we provide a thorough loss control assessment and risk
management review, looking for potential problems. When it comes to solutions,
not all of the ones we offer are in the form of insurance. There are times we
suggest other methods of risk avoidance.
However, when it comes to actual
insurance coverage, we don’t sell law firms coverage, we buy it for them. We
scour the markets to find the best combination of coverage and price, and
perhaps more importantly, we work with our client law firms to maintain this
balance year after year.
The insurance products we offer to
law firms include:
- Lawyers Professional
Errors & Omissions Liability
– we work with enough law firms and
insurance companies to know what is taking place in the market, which insurers
are raising prices and which ones are keeping prices steady, which ones have
better coverage options and which ones are the least flexible. Our volume
allows us a degree of latitude not always afforded to other seekers of this
coverage.
- Business Owners
Policy (BOP) –
while many think that writing this
coverage is a simple exercise, when a loss occurs, firms see the benefits of
attending to this thoroughly. This is another area where we perform a
thorough risk assessment. We use various insurance companies for this
coverage, while trying to find the best balance of coverage and costs.
- Workers
Compensation – while
this coverage is rather basic due to its statutory nature, there are still
many options not always considered. We make them all available to our law
firm clients and prospects.
- Employment
Practices Liability –
there is a good reason this coverage is more expensive for law firms than for
any other type of business or profession: everyone in law firms knows how to
sue. Despite the fact that many firms like to self-insure for this coverage,
they often remember the old saw, “The attorney who defends himself has a fool
for a client.”
- Group Health
– we have access to
almost all the major health insurers and can offer a very wide array of
coverage options.
